Scholarship Distribution Program – Education Relief Project

Himalaya Dāna Foundation believes that education is one of the most powerful weapons in fighting poverty. So, as a helping organization, our focus must be on  the uplifting education sector by providing way to access on school for poor children. That’s why; the target beneficiaries are the children with single parents, orphans or children with economically weak parents who need support for their quality school education.

In the initial phase, HDF started to support 35 children in the valley and further we extended to support 150 students from particularly in Lele Villages, Badegaun Village and different places of Nepal.

HDF is also financially supporting in “Lumbini Kindergarten” free school running at Pyangaun, Lalitpur, Godawori Municipality which is only one Kindergarten in the entire village. At present time, 80 students are studying in this kindergarten; these all children are from very poor family background who cannot manage to pay for basic requirement.

The primary objective of the project is to support those children who willing to receive good education but their parents were not able to give them quality education due to financial crisis. Most of the single parents are not being able to send their children to good schools. This project supports those parents to provide good learning environment for their children. The specific objective of the project is to provide scholarship for their education to the orphan children and single parent children or economically weak parents, mostly from earthquake victims families. Some objectives are as follows:

• To provide environment to get quality education.
• To creating better learning atmosphere in school and home.
• To support economically for those children who belongs to earthquake victims and poor family. It helps them to buy text books, educational accessories and dresses etc.

After all the entire selection process, a mass gathering program was organized to formally announce the program and handover the scholarship amount. All the students with their parents or guardians had attended the program. Mr. Shakya, Chairperson of HDF distributed the fund to the students accordingly. He expressed his happiness for being able to continue support the needy children for their education and thanked to Mr. Moghadam and friends of Monaco for generous support for the Education Relief Project in Nepal.

First program was held at Lele Village, here scholarship distributed to the 28 students. Second program was held at Badegaun Village for 26 students. And, rest of 96 students collected from different places was distributed at the premises of Himalaya Dāna Foundation office.

Altogether, one hundred fifty deserving children have been selected till their high school level academic program as per the target of the Education Relief Project.

The project has successfully completed its initial phase as per plan. It has been a great help for the needy people to secure their children’s future. The significant outcome of the project was the successful distribution of the scholarship to deserving children. All the students are doing very well in their studies.

All the children, parents and guardians have expressed their sincere and heartfelt thanks to the supporters. The voice of the scholarship holders and their parents is like this:

“We were living in normal life by birth, but our condition became most terrible after this devastating natural disaster. We were forced to face the miserable situation. We thought our life is going to be finished in this way as we could not able to send children to school, really no way to overcome from it. Surely, HDF became source of light to us in our dark time. We all parents and guardians were very pleased to receive the support for their children and we are very grateful to Mr. Moghadam, Friends of Monaco and HDF. We promise to fully utilize the scholarship amount by creating good study environment at home and help our children’s study hard for better result.
In this context, we are remembering and praying to all the helping hands from Monaco every single time instead of god as we think you all are real god for us who holds our hand in the prime time of our economic crisis.
And we believe your help obviously help to create better future for our children”
