Non-Nepalese people
By decision of the Government of Nepal, visa issuance is subject to strict conditions.
Visas are issued only for trekking and Himalayas.
Visas are no longer issued at Kathmandu International Airport. They must be obtained before departure to Nepal.
To apply for a visa, you must first:
- register on the website of the “Department of Immigration”
- Get in touch with a Nepalese trekking agency so that it can apply for a visa authorization from the “department of immigration”
It is only when the person holds the certificate of authorization for the visa issuance, issued by the “Department of Immigration” that he can apply for the tourist visa.
The following documents should then be provided by registered mail to the Nepalese consulate or by going to the consulate itself:
- The certificate from the “Department of Immigration”
- A certificate of insurance covering up to US $ 5,000 health costs
- A PCR test of less than 72 hours which must be negative
- The passport (and not a copy of the passport)
- A check with the visa fees (free for children under 10), made payable to the Nepalese Consulate
Before departure it is necessary to register on the government website ” Covid19 Crisis Management Center” and to print the completed form which will be required on arrival.
On arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, it will be required:
- Passport with visa
- Authorization from the “Department of Immigration”
- Certificate of Insurance covering up to US $ 5,000 health costs
- A new PCR test of less than 72 hours which must be negative (and not a simple medical certificate)
- The CCMC form (Covid 19 Crisis Mangement center)
- A 14-day reservation in an approved hotel for quarantine.
On arrival, people must complete a 14-day quarantine in an approved hotel. At the end of this quarantine, the person will have to undergo, at his expense, a PCR test which will have to be negative to be authorized to carry out the trek mentioned on the documents.
Nepalese people
People with a valid Nepalese passport will need to:
- Register on the government website ” Covid19 Crisis Management Center” and print the completed form that will be required on arrival.
- Provide to Kathmandu International Airport:
- Their passport
- A certificate of insurance covering up to US $ 5,000 health costs
- A PCR test of less than 72 hours which must be negative
- The CCMC form (Covid 19 Crisis Mangement center)
- The home address where the 14-day quarantine will be carried out
- Carry out a 14-day quarantine at his home or at his parents’ home.
- At the end of the 14-day quarantine, a PCR test must be performed at his expense and it must be negative to be authorized to leave.
NB: Before any departure for Nepal, the person must check with the French authorities, the sanitary conditions that are required for the return to France.
